Our vision is to bring a competition BBQ circuit to the northern part of Minnesota. This circuit is geared to bring backyard BBQ enthusiasts together in one place. The contest consists of slow cooking pork spare ribs provided by Shaefer's Foods of Nisswa, Minnesota.

History
Hi, my name is Big Bob along with my wife Lori and my daughter Brittney we own and run Big Bobs Backyard BBQ. Over the years of competing at different contests and dealing with different ways that each one was being run (not by people who BBQ) we decided to start a company that would come in and run these contests by one consistent set of rules for competing and judging. So we started asking the teams at these competitions what they thought would be good to see also. The North Star BBQ promotions company was born.
